 Monte Nevado

Fourteen years ago, Regina Meardi de Papini inherited Monte Nevado, a farm located on the top of the Tecapa-Chinameca Mountain range. The farm covers 70 hectares and 39.9 hectares are covered with coffee. It is one of the regions where you can find a wide selection of almost extinct fauna. Walking through the field, one can find armadillos, racoons, tepescuintles and a wide selection of butterflies.

The coffee growing area does not have a huge quantity of shade grown trees because there is not enough sunlight on the top of the mountain. The picking is done by a dozen of workers that depend on seasonal farm jobs. During the coffee crisis, the farm was almost abandoned and the owners where keeping the farm going only with basic pruning and fertilization.

This is the first time we bought coffees from Monte Nevado. We were impressed by how clean the natural processed coffees tasted. This farm was introduced to us by our local sourcing partner Cafe Tuxpal. Through this relationship, we managed to access a broader range of coffees from El Salvador.
