Costa Rica Finca Macho

Finca Macho derives its name from the affectionate moniker bestowed upon its owner, Don Efraín “Macho” Naranja. Don Efraín has been a coffee producer for four decades, commencing his journey at the tender age of 14 when his father bestowed upon him a modest plot of land, igniting a lifelong passion. In 2004, he assumed full ownership and, in collaboration with his son Herbert, embarked on a transformative journey that transformed the farm. They established their own micro-mill, Santa Rosa 1900, and by 2010 commenced processing their coffee beans.

Situated at an elevation of 1,900 meters in Santa Rosa de León Cortés, the farm enjoys the optimal coffee-growing conditions characterised by distinct wet and dry seasons, ample sun exposure, and a gradual cherry maturation process that enhances the coffee’s flavour profile. The farm cultivates a diverse range of varieties, including Caturra, Red Catuaí, Mocha, Bourbon, Gesha, and Typica. All of these varieties thrive in rich, organic soil, nurtured through meticulous agronomic practices. Finca Macho serves as the fulcrum of Santa Rosa 1900, garnering both national and international acclaim, including esteemed placements at the prestigious Cup of Excellence.
