Updates to our 2015 charity drive
Nylon Coffee Roasters
Back in 2015, we raised US$7,737.28 (S$10,376.95) for the relief work in Nepal through charity: water. We just received an update from them that part of the donation will be used for a water project to construct a 4 piped water system (tap stands) that will be implemented by its local partner Nepal Water for Health (NEWAH). NEWAH’s gravity fed systems source clean water from mountain springs and pipe it down to community tap stands. Some systems provide water for an entire community, while others serve several communities from one water point.
NEWAH will form and train a local Water and Sanitation User Committee (WSUC) on sanitation (use of latrines), hygienic practices, safe water storage, and water point management and maintenance. These efforts instill a sense of ownership and responsibility for the community’s water source. The estimated completion timeframe will be Spring 2017.
The Nylon team would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has donated generously last year. You have made a difference to many Nepalese who will benefit from this new water system.
