Guatemala El Apiario
Nylon Coffee Roasters
Christmas is around the corner and some of you might be cracking your head doing some last-minute X’mas shopping. Just in time for this festive season, our new coffee might just be an idea for you.
El Apiario is a farm located in the San Pedro Necta municipal of Huehuetenango region of Guatemala. El Apiaro means “the apiary”. As its name speaks for itself, this coffee farm houses a bee community and the producer, Jorge Mendez, harvest the honey from the beehives to supplement his family income. The bees not only provide an alternative source of income, but studies have also shown that they help to increase production when honeybees aid the pollination of coffee trees. Having a bee community in the farm is a good sign as it shows the healthy state of the farm and its environment.
This coffee was sourced through our friends at Finca Vista Hermosa. While they were searching for organic coffees, they came upon the Mendez family in the same valley as Finca Vista Hermosa. El Apiario not only produces amazing coffee, but also delicious honey. We are glad to have bought a few bags of this coffee to share with you.
As an espresso, the cup is balanced with mild citric notes of plums
and cherries. Its butterscotch sweetness coupled with a milk cocoa finish and lingering creamy mouthfeel makes it such a comforting cup that will power you
through the 12 days of Christmas!
