Finca Vista Hermosa & Boa Vista

Nylon Coffee Roasters

Joining in the lunar festivities, we bring you 2 new coffees as we welcome the year of the Golden Monkey. First up will be a VERY limited run of a “nano-lot”, from our partner at Finca Vista Hermosa (”FVH”) in Guatemala. This coffee is from a lot named, El Bosque, that is located at one of the highest part of the farm. FVH was very badly hit by the coffee leaf rust disease last year and hence production was down 90% from its peak. We only managed to secure 60lbs of coffee from this lot hence it will be a very short run which we have it available for retail. FVH is managed by Edwin David Martinez Keyes, and his father, Don Edwin Amilcar Martinez Pineda. The farm is located in Agua Dulce, Huehuetenango, northwest of Guatemala. The El Bosque lot was planted in 2008 at an altitude of 1750 - 1830m above sea level. This nano-lot is of mixed varietals, including some Catimor and Paché. Do not let the Catimor distract you as we were pleasantly surprised to know of what varietals were in the lot after cupping.

This cup has abundant notes of raisins and dried fruits, followed by rich molasses sweetness. It is a pleasantly rounded cup with a smooth body and hints of chocolate in the finish. A power booster to start your day!

Farm: Finca Vista Hermosa
Producer: Edwin David Martinez Keyes and Edwin Amilcar Martinez Pineda
Location: Agua Dulce, Huehuetenango
Altitude: ~ 1,750 - 1,830 m asl

The 2nd new coffee is a familiar name from Sitio Boa Vista, which some of you might remember from 2015. It has been logistically challenging to bring in the Brazils and we were relieved when it finally arrived mid January. During the cupping of the 2015 samples, we decided on a Red Bourbon lot which reminded us of the previous Red Catuai lot we had last year. The cup displays gentle acidity with notes of melons and red apples. Coated with raw honey sweetness, its milky texture and hints of walnuts in the finish makes it a soothing cup for everyday enjoyment.

Farm: Sítio Boa Vista
Producer: Celso and Gertrudes Augusto
Region: Caconde, Sao Paulo, Brazil
Dry Mill: Fazenda Ambiental Fortaleza
Varietal: Red Bourbon
Altitude: 1200 - 1340m asl
Processing: Pulped Natural

These 2 coffees are perfect for pairing up with those delish CNY goodies. Brew some for visiting friends and relatives as good stuff are meant to be shared! Available in store and on our webshop. GONG XI FA CAI!
